CONTEXT
The client, A-Look was one of the pioneers of casual eyewear that introduced the DIY “no-fuss” frame selection concept in Malaysia.
CHALLENGE
Having successfully established and grown over the years, the client needed a significant shift by introducing a standalone spin-off brand with better offerings in order to effectively appeal to the young and fashion-conscious.
SOLUTION
Having thoroughly understood the client situation, aspirations and having engaged stakeholders input in an extensive brand lab, a young, contemporary brand was born. Product categories were also aligned to appeal to the lifestyle and outlook of the targeted mindset. Result: the brand has experienced rapid growth in popularity and ROI, making it the bestselling and most profitable of all chains under the client’s portfolio. On-track to launch the 16th store by the end of its 2nd year, O.W.L.’s success has in the meantime inspired scores of ‘copy-cats’ in the industry. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
