CONTEXT
Maxis is one of the leading mobile communications and data network operators in Malaysia.  It was the first to launch high-speed networks locally, and the first to bring the BlackBerry, Apple iphone, Galaxy Tab, Windows 7 and Android smartphones to the country. We have been invited to propose the retail design of its flagship store in Kuala Lumpur.
CHALLENGE
The company’s flagship store in Kuala Lumpur’s Suria KLCC has not gone through any major renovations since its operations started.  Thus, a strategic change in its retail design would not only align its brand more closely with the aspiration of the “always connected” generation, but also what it sees as the future of communications.
SOLUTION
Communications is not just about its technology and data, or people getting connected, but it’s about the significance, joy and meaning behind the interaction. For the flagship store, we link this meaning with a customer’s physical journey through its space and the journey of discovering what you want or encounters with people who care.  Themed “Happiness Inside”, it takes the cue from a choreography of enriching exploration, discovery and connection, and turning them into an interior that is a joy to explore.
